Cairngorms NNR’s

Finding methods of preserving the ‘wildness’, but also interpreting the remote areas, of six National Nature Reserves in or adjacent to the Cairngorms National Park presented a stimulating interpretive challenge.

One of a number of exciting proposals was to install a series of engraved clear acrylic panels that allow visitors to view the high remote landscapes and ’see’ the scenes changing over time. The plans also suggested ways of creating a distinct family of inter-linked reserves whilst still retaining the special individual character of each.

“SNH have welcomed the flexible approach from Imagemakers to this contract and in particular dealing easily with timetabling changes not of their making. The interpretive ideas proposed are creative and offer opportunity to improve the visitor experience on several of the Cairngorms NNRs.” Andy Rockall, Scottish Natural Heritage.
