After 10 years in service, the boiler in every steam engine owned by Severn Valley Railway is stripped and re-built so it can legally be used on the railway again. The engines and rolling stock are housed in the Engine House museum whilst they await repair.
Through immersive interactives, and the engines themselves, visitors of all ages and abilities experience the processes of restoration and repair. This wide-ranging project explores other themes such as the skills needed to keep the railway running and how it has become one of the most important steam railways in Britain through visitor participation, audio-visuals, graphics, surround-sound and light effects.
"We are thrilled with our new museum and education centre and our visitors are enjoying finding out how the Severn Valley Railway works through all the interactive exhibitions and displays. Imagemakers have worked with us every step of the way and done a great job." David Mee, Education Services Manager, Severn Valley Railway.
