So, I’m being asked “What does The Dip have to do with interpretation design?”
My answer is “everything”.
The choices we make coming out of The Dip will dictate the quality of our “art”.
I am defining “art” as the ‘work’ we do in our ‘job’.
When we do excellent ‘work’ (whether that be waitressing or sculpting) that is our “art”.
If we work as designers, our ideas, objectivity and ability to conceptualise will be affected.
If we are project managers, our patience and striving for excellence will be affected.
If our art is in computer programming the elegance and ingenuity of our code will be affected.
If we choose fear (to run, to hide, etc) the output will suffer and we settle for second best, average, “OK”.
If we decide to act positively (to play fair, stay and and fight, admit the problems) we will do great work, our “art” is able to flow and we become far more comfortable and creative with each other.
The Dip will either rob us and others of our potential or it will end up releasing and generating a torrent of artful work that lifts the whole project.
Your choice…. :O)
